Drawings

The Drawings Collection comprise of a number of pencil and charcoal sketches capturing observations, concepts, ideas and perceptions over the last 60 years.

Most of the concepts contained in the drawings, were generated by spending 40 years living in Africa and still, are sublimated with political, religious and social undertones pertinent to the time and the Continent.

The drawings began as a visual commentary on a political or social event and many, if not all, evolved or were modified over the decades, culminating in a conversion to canvas.

Each drawing was heavily overlayed with symbolism and metaphor in order for the artist to capture the nature or essence of the thing or thought being portrayed. The challenge for the viewer is to interpret each drawing independently of the artist leading the process and to enjoy the personal journey of interpretation.

The concepts portrayed in this Collection are timeless and will remain relevant for decades to come.
