Collections

This collection of paintings and mixed media works cover over 60 years of conscious observations, concepts and thoughts collected from media exposure. These ideas evolved into drawings and onto the paintings represented here. It is a collection of paintings representing socio-political observations by the artist throughout the last 7 decades from a number of different countries.

The paintings are overtly provocative. The artist feels that art, like literature and music, should be governed by the Laws of the respective Muse, but should, nevertheless, “push the boundaries” of intellectual reaction. The subjects covered are generally those considered taboo e.g. sexuality, religion, political commentary and general observations and comments on the human race. They can also be seen as a satirical social commentary on the evolution of the human race.

The paintings also allow the viewer a personal journey through each painting trusting that intellectually, they will arrive at an understanding of the painting’s subject independently to that of the artist. As viewing a painting or drawing will always be a subjective journey for the viewer it is important to engage them through intellectual provocation in order to take that journey.

Each painting should be viewed as separate to the others and the viewer should let their own expressive conclusions reflect back to them from the painting.
